Why are hand decorated, custom ordered cookies more expensive?
In a nut shell?? They are not mass produced. Custom cookies are expensive because they are highly labor intensive. There are many, many steps to creating them. The average set of cookies can take hours from start to finish. The creative process starts with research on the theme, finding the right clipart and font. Then there’s the making of the dough fresh for each order, cutting and baking the cookies. Preparing the colors of choice, icing and last but not least….packaging. Put all of this together and you have a custom ordered, beautifully decorated set of cookies created just for YOU!
I love this cookie set I saw on Pinterest, will you copy it?
Pinterest is a wonderful resource of ideas. I love it too as it has become an online catalogue for any cookie theme you could ever think up. What I can do is use it to make sure we are on the same wave length when it comes to creating your order and then make it our own.
I can’t tell if my cookies would be considered Detailed or Intricate on your pricing sheet?
We completely understand that it can be difficult to figure out what category the cookie design you want may fall in. The pricing sheet should give you a ball park idea of what your cookies may cost. The purpose of the sheet is to allow clients to pick a type of custom dozen based on price. For example, if you say you want one detailed dozen cookies with a superhero theme and colors are blue, red and yellow, then our team will provide a quote based on that information.
Why is there an additional cost for extra colors?
Our custom cookies are competitively priced for our region. By doing so it allows cookie artist to continue to work their business in the black. We have determined the amount of colors that each custom order will allows based on your level of interest. Color mixing is one of the most time-consuming parts of the decorating process. Would you believe it is even longer than decorating the cookies? Some of the darker colors need a few hours to fully develop. The Detailed Dozen allows for 4 colors. If you wish to add a 5th color it is an additional $5.00 charge to the TOTAL order, no matter how many dozens it may be. For example, a detailed dozen at $50.00 would now be $55.00, two dozen would now be $105.00.
I have a budget; can you help me?
We sure can. If you provide us with your budget, theme and colors we can help provide you with options that fit.
What if I need an odd amount of cookies?
Our minimum total order for cookies is a dozen. Although for mini’s it is two dozen. You can order any amount above that number. For example, if you would like to order 15 cookies we can price that out for you.
What are the ingredients in your custom cookies?
We are very selective about the ingredients we use in our cookies. We are not fans of any additives or preservatives and because of that we use King Arthur Unbleached Flour™, GW Sugar™, Challenge™ unsalted butter, Danncy™ pure Mexican vanilla, salt, baking powder and locally grown eggs. That’s it. Icing includes: powdered sugar, meringue powder, water, corn syrup, cream of tartar, glycerin, and Danncy pure Mexican clear vanilla. We know this Royal Icing recipe may seem a bit intense but it makes the best options as it does not dry rock hard like others Royal Icings do. We do not use nuts in our cookies and clean our kitchen very thoroughly. Even if a cookie doesn’t have tree nuts, it is produced in a kitchen where tree nuts may be present. ALLERGENS: NUT, WHEAT, EGG, DAIRY
Are you licensed to sell cookies?
Yes, BusyMom Baking is registered in the State of Texas and we operate under the Cottage Law.

It is never too soon. Our schedule can book up very quickly. We ask for a two weeks’ notice on most orders. Anything under one week is considered a rush order and is subject to an additional charge. Plus, if you are ordering a custom set of cookies ironing out the details often takes time.

How do you package your cookies to keep them fresh?
All cookies are heat sealed in cellophane bags and placed in a bakery box. At times we will shrink wrap a cookie depending on the presentation needs. If you desire your order to be placed on a serving tray we can do that too and have them wrapped in food grade plastic wrap for stability and freshness.
Do I need to refrigerate or freeze my cookies if I pick up early?
Although our cookies are not made with additives or preservatives they will stay fresh for a week PROVIDED you keep them sealed and out of the sun/heat. No need to refrigerate. You can freeze them if you need to keep them for longer. If that is the case I can provide the proper instructions for doing so.
